One of the best things that can happen to a high school marching band is a custom arranged show. Tailored to showcase the best players and challenge the rest, a custom show can vary from arrangements of popular or concert band pieces to original compositions. Whatever you choose, I’ll create a show that will be unique and designed with your students in mind.
Marching shows these days come in all shapes and sizes for all budgets. You can spend less than $500 or you can spend more than $5000. As a teacher myself I’m interested in working with you to create a show that will be musically rewarding, entertaining and fun to work on during the fall season.
I want to give you all the tools needed to make the show successful from the first day of summer through the cutoff of the last note of the final marching show. This includes (but isn’t limited to) making sure you have audio files with and/or without metronome, mp3s split into tracks for marching rehearsal, clean scores and digital files in .pdf and for Sibelius or Finale if you want to make changes yourself, and SmartMusic files for playing tests. I’ll also make sure I stay with you through the year to make sure the music is working perfectly for your group.
I’ve been on the other end of the scenario where I’m stuck working with a show that has certain features that just don’t work: awkward and unnecessary meter changes, confusing phrasing, poor orchestration and on and on. Let’s make sure these headaches don’t happen to you during the next marching season!
If you’re interested in a show with original music, prices for wind music start at around $2000. If you want a show with arrangements of non-original works, prices start at $1500. Be sure and research the steps required for “Permission to Arrange.” If you’d like, I can take care of that as well. I’d be glad to work with your percussion arranger or I can work to have the parts written by a writer who understands the nature of school percussion sections and will write to your group’s strengths.
