7 Audio/Video Creative Resources

For educators needing to create virtual content and lessons, editing media (both audio and video) is an essential skill.

Below are 7 resources to learn new skills in audio/video editing and storytelling.

Adobe Creative Cloud Tutorialshttps://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/tutorials-explore.html

  • Due to the nature of CC (monthly subscription), these will likely be continually updated to match the current version of the software.
  • Since they are from the source, they are credible and well done.
  • These tutorials move beyond basic facts and dig deeper.

DaVinci Resolve Traininghttps://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve/training

  • This is a great resource for a free video editing tool. They’ll be updated to stay with the current version of the program.
  • This too comes from the manufacturer and is great quality and credibility.
  • There is some basic info covered, but these are specific to DaVinci and require some knowledge.

No Film Schoolhttps://nofilmschool.com/

  • This is a continually updated resource; a community of authors and industry professionals.
  • Since there are many different authors, the reader must approach them with a degree of skepticism to make sure the content is useful.
  • This is a great place to find “basic facts” of the film industry.

Pixar in a Box (@ Khan Academy)https://www.khanacademy.org/computing/pixar

  • Khan Academy is always a great resource to use with students and this resource, in particular, is awesome! This will probably not change much over time since the art of storytelling in the Pixar style is tried and true.
  • This is credible based on Pixar’s track record.
  • Lots of great basic knowledge and terminology for those interested in storytelling.

Ripple Traininghttps://www.rippletraining.com/

  • Ripple Training publishes videos frequently, but many of the older ones are out of date as new versions of the application come out.
  • Ripple works closely with Apple, so that is a good indication that they’re good quality and credible.
  • There are some free tutorials, but their paid tutorials are worth the money as well.

Portals
